Kanika's family deity

Kanika's head is shaved by the barber. She is not crying actually she is happy about her headshave. She is not a short hair girl she had a long hair anfd she is from kerala, south India. Kanika suddenly wakeup from the sleep. She touch her hair is there or not. It's there then she is satisfied, then she look at the timing it's now 6 AM in the morning. Then she started for her studies. This dream is 3 time in this week. But she don't know the reason behind it. She is studying in 2 year BE in a private college. Her semester examination is started, that's why she is preparing. But the head-shave dream is disturbed little bit.


So she want to share her experience with her Mom, she got surprised but she said, no problem, it will stop other 1 or 2 days. So she also convince,but  next day the same time the dream comes, she wake-up at 6 am again. She got a confusion. She want to check any psychartist. She again spoke to her Mom, her Papa also there. So he said once you complete your exam, will go and check with the Physicisian, If the dream stops by the time no need to go to the Physicisian. But the dream is continues everyday exactly same time.

So she and her Papa went to hospital  in the semester leave. She told her dream to Physicisian. He listen everything and he asked when you are got shave you head last time. Kanika replied it's in her childhood about 8 years. He again asking you have any pending vow to any temple, she said no, but he again asking the same question please think for some time and tell me. She is thinking sometime and she said no. Physicisian said these is not a big problem, this dream will end in some days.  So don't worry about that. She satisfied about Physicisian's reply.

They came to home, she told everything to her mom, then her Mom said, you have one pending vow is there in our family temple, I prayed to god for if you get good score in 10th std you should shave your head at our temple. You got a good score in 10th but by the time in our family your uncle is passed away so I postpone your headshave and I forgot. Kanika got shocked and said then what we can do, check with the Physicisian what he can say about this. Next day she and Papa again went to the hospital and checked about this he said if you have any pending vow you can do. Kanika is asking if after my tonsure also the dream will come means what we can do? Physicisian said first finish the vow and check for sometime if this is continues will decide after that.

So their family is started their trip to their family deity.  They invite their relatives also for the function. Because every year all of their family members went to do the pooja in the temple and somebody shaves their head. This time it's Kanika's turn. Next day morning they reached the temple their family members are also came from other cities. Some 20 of the came for the pooja. Then everybody chat about their health and family. After sometime Kanika's Mom told about her daughter's headshave. They all are happy.

 By the time the barber came, so Kanika is went and sat in front the barber, all of her family members eagerly watch her tonsure. This barber is shaved her head in her childhood, so he remember her face, and he asked about her health and she said she is fine, then he is asking haircut, she said headshave, then he remove the rubber band from her hair, and he watches her long hair and he said you hair is very thick and long so you really want to shave, she said yes, then he smiled and said you have a brave heart. 

Kanika smiled, then he pour the water in her head and massaged her head properly. Her long hair is fully wet, then he took razor and put a new half blade and started shaving her middle of her head she is very shy because around her all of the family member are watching her tonsure. Her hair is felt in her lap, she is little bit of worry about her headshave, but she don't have choice, she is thinking about how to face her friends and neighbor with bald look, by the time her half of the head is bald, then the barber shaves her both side of the head. Next 5 mins she is completely bald, but the barber once again put the razor and shaves her head smoothly. Then he said your head shave is complete. 

She look at her bald look in the mirror, but she is not recognize herself. She touches her head and scratches her bald head completely. Then she left for her bath. Her Mom bring her to the well, and pour the water in her head and she wash her head with water. And she said your looks like beautiful Kanika, she smiled. After her bath she is wearing a yellow saree by the time her Mom applied the sandal her bald head. Then she only coordinating the pooja. After 2 to 3 hours everybody left the place and Kanika and her family reached to chenani. After her headshave her dream got stopped, she got very happy about that.

Near Madurai I got marriage three years before.my mil and hus are more religious I am also religious every year my mil and husband are wearing mala for palani temple and they go temple by walk.this year i asked my mil aunty I also wearing malai she said ok.next day all the three members in our family go to market and purchased tulasi mala and four yellow sarees for me and mil and two yellow dothies for my hus.next day morning we take headbath and wear yellow sarees my mil applied vibuthi pattai on all fore heads that meants three long vibuthi stripes. 

Then go to vinayagar temple near my house and weared a malai.after coming to our house my mil said she and my hus mil said she and my hus planned to shave their heads in palani and she requsted me to give three cuts.i accepted and asked my mil aunty you have a long hair why to shave she replied venduthal. two days later my friend suba come to my house and she looked my getup and said enna samiyarini mathri ayita entha koviluku malai.i replied palani murugan temple and she said manjal selai vibuthi pattaila samiyarini mathri irruka appidiyae palanila mottai adichitina orginal samiyar ave mariruvae.i laughed and said naan mottai podala enga athai yum hus um motao poduranga she said neeyum mottai pottuka appathan mottai kudumbam nu solla midium my mil laughed pavam radhika avala vambu illukatha.

 After suba relive from our home that matter going on my mind and imagine abt my bald look it was interesting and I thinked abt en naamalum oru thadava mottai adika kudathu.in lunch table I asked my mil athai ennuku mottai potta nalla irrukuma my mil replied why u r asked that question mottai poda assaiya I replied illa atha summa than kettan neenga mottai poda poratha pathi nenaithu partheen appathan naanum mottai adicha enna nu thonuichu she said you r a young girl and u have a long hair athanala nee venanumnu sonnanen I replied parava illai athai samiku thana mudi a koodukirom and I also had a wish to shave my head .mil said ok your hair ur wish but inform to ur hus and parents.

i said pls,thai neengale solli permission vangi thanga.she agreed.evening my hus retrun from office my mil said to my hus radhika um mottai poda assaipadura nee enna sollura hus asked enna didirunu aasai I replied neenga rendu perum mottai adikum pothu naan matum mudi oda irruntha nalla irrukathu.

he smiled and said ok.after that mil called my parents in mobile and naanga ellurom malaai pottu irrukom kudumbathoda mudi irrakalumnu mudivu panni irrukom neenga permission kudutha radhika vum mudi irrakuva illaina poo mudi eduthu kittum.my parents said if radhika wish she shave her head.i am very happy next day I go to suba house and asked neeium palaniku vaa enku company iku.she agreed and I did not said abt my tonsure.

on that day me my hus and mil go to palani by walk suba joined with us in palani bus stand and she asked my mil aunty eppa mottai adika porenga apidiyae ivalukum mottai adichi vitingana nalla irrukum I said suba summa irru naan mottai poda maataen then we go to lodge and freshup.i said suba nee ingayae rest edu ivarum athaium mottai poda poranga naan kudappietu varen she said ok. 

I kept my tonsure matter surprisely for suba. we go to saravana poigai tonsure hall and we directly go to barber he said first purchase a ticket. My hus go to counter and bought three tokens and gave in our hands first my hus and mil sat before various barbers in a same time . That time I was nervous and butterfly fly in my heart. And I un braid my hair.in five mins they stand up with clead bald head my hus was diffeent look without hair and mistache .i rubbed my mil head and said mottai athai she replied innum angu nimasathula neeyum motta mandai agapora appurum enna.

that time my said appurum pesikillam late aguthu so I gave token to one barber he asked mottaiya poo mudiya I replied with smile mottai barber smiled asked me to sat before him.i sat barber bent my head towards him and take a hand full of water and message in my head that time one lady come she braid my hair in to two knots then my head is totaly wet and water swatig on my face then he change the blade in knife she started shaving my head.in two mins one knot fall in my lap after twomins another knot follows it.and he made my head.

after that we go to room I was stayed before a door suba looked my mil and said aunty u r looking beautiful in bald and wr is radhika she said she is coming that time I entered in the room.suba saw me and got surprised hey neeum mottai pottutiya and rubbed my head for long time.we take bath my mil applied sandal paste on all bald heads it was so cool and I like it . 

And we wear yellow dress mil applied a vibuthi pattai on all fore heads including suba.i asked suba nee sona saamiyar look vandhuruicha she smiled and said me mottai we go to temple next day I go to my parents house I gave prasadam I mother very happy. and my elder sisters childrens coming and rub my head and said mottai aunty.from that suba always called me a mottai.next day I inform my mil athai adutha varusamum mottai podalam,she accepted.

and suba hus told their family inculding suba will shave their heads for next year suba smiled I also smiled with bald head.

Happy Head Shaving Day

This story tells you about my experience at office after head shave. This is a continuation of my previous “Accident Haircut...“. Since there no link between two you can start reading this and enjoy my after head shave experience.

                                            

After making my head shined bright with razor, the barber applied some talcum powder with a sponge all over. He swept the excess powder with a clean towel. I went back to my apartment and changed to formals to go for work. As usual I approached my wall mirror with my talcum powder, moisture cream and a comb from shelf. 

I suddenly realized and felt crap for holding the comb. In anger I threw it out the window, since I felt keeping it now is totally insane. I also saw my hair gel teasing me from the shelf, I emptied the bottle to the corner basin and threw the bottle away. I was totally disappointed because I never thought that I will be shaving my head yesterday. 

I left home soon to office. While riding the bike, I was thinking on how to face my colleagues, how to give explanation for my bald head etc… When I reached office ground I found the car of my friend whom I met at restaurant yesterday. I was sure that the news about my head shave will be spread by him, he works with me in the same company.

 I felt that everyone was waiting for my arrival.When I opened the door I saw all the eyes looking at my bald head. As I expected everyone was waiting for me. I heard many comments like blady, mr.bald, bald boss, Egghead etc… Some came around me for touching, rubbing and kissing my bald head.

                               

The annoying thing that I found was the office is decorated with balloons and ribbons. I was wondering why they are celebrating my head shave like this. I really felt ashamed for the same. I suddenly heard a loud happy birthday song, and then only I realized that all the decorations were made for my colleague’s birthday celebration. Our office celebrates the birthday of everybody to its core. But the arrival of birthday guy doesn't grab full attention of everyone from me. I went to my cabin and started my work. I could still feel many eyes looking at my bald head. 


At 11am there is a break. It was the time to cut the birthday cake. I joined them, everybody there called me ‘egg head’ and I felt like my real name was forgotten by all. I stood beside the thick creamy white vanilla cake. The cake was cut soon and after that suddenly somebody standing at my back pushed my bald head down and dipped it into the cake. When I slowly raised my head all the white cream layer stuck on my bald head.

 The middle part of my bald head was completely covered with white cream. Huge laughter was heard all around me. So many tongues licked away the cream in my bald head leaving saliva on my scalp, I felt it really annoying. I became a joker for the whole show that day. I should say my colleagues actually celebrated my head shaving. I felt that everyone was wishing me 'Happy Head Shaving Day' to me. With some laughter and disappointment, that day added to the unforgettable moments of my life. 

Sukanya's clean shaved head

Sukanya joined new company, she joined in finance department. So first day of her introduction, she mingled with everybody, and all of them asked about her bald head. Because she is currently clean shaved head. It’s look like she shaved her head before 2 days. She said it’s a vow.

Once she joined after 1 month she mingled with everybody. She invites everybody in her house. So most of them went her house on Saturday, she happily welcome everybody and she arrange small lunch for everybody. Everybody look their house, by the time she gave her marriage album and other photos. Everybody shocked because of her long and shining hair. All of them thought she had midback hair or shorthair, but everything is went wrong.

 They called Sukanya and they asked why you shaved you such kind of longhair. She said I have already told, that’s is a vow. But they said, no we won’t believe, because, most of the longhaired girls don’t want to shave their head. But you shaved boldly, you had a guts. Is anybody forced you to shave or you really interest to shaved your head.

Then she said her tonsure story, that is, after her marriage, her husband want to Sukanya’s hair. Because he vowed Sukanya’s hair, first she heard about this she shocked and she denied, but he said strictly if Sukanya doesn’t shave her head he will divorce her. So she finally accept and shaved her head, but her headshave she cried a lot. 

This is happened on 1 year before, but last week she done it again for her wish. Because she prayed if she gets new job. That’s why she shaved her head last week. Also she said, she don’t want to grow her hair long, every year she will shave her head. Everybody shocked and appreciate her decision.

Swapna's Tonsure at Palani Temple

Swapna is working in private company, she got married last year, and after her marriage also she continued her work. She had awesome long and thick black hair, because she maintains well. In her office everybody praise her hair. She had pride on her longhair. One of her colleague is 3 days before short her longhair, she surprised and said why you cut your such a longhair, she said it’s difficult to maintain longhair for working women, but Swapna said I am also working along with you but still I’m maintaining longhair, this is my passion and interest. She said that’s correct, but it’s difficult for me also I want to change my look.

                       


After this discussion 4 weeks later Swapna felt with chicken pox, so she is on leave for 6 weeks. All of her collogues came and see her health condition. Her manager also extended her leave for 4 weeks again, because she is not took any unwanted leave for the past 3 yrs. But Swapna said to her manager I don’t want extra 4 weeks leave anyway I’m ok now. So I will be back on next Friday. So her manager also said ok. She also came Friday, with little tiredness, so her manager asks her leave early and comeback on Monday. So she went to half day. Monday morning Swapna is come, with little surprise. What is that????

Everybody in her office shocked her look, she is wearing red colour churidhar, and she covered her head with Duppata. Once she enters the office everybody came and ask to remover her thuppata, she also removes, she is with clean shaven head. Then her friends are asking “hey what happened to you, why you shave your long hair? Is there any vow? She calmly said, “No” and said due to my health condition I shaved my head. Her friend’s are little confused, and they asking the reason clearly.

                                  

Swapna said, when I felt with chickenpox, due to heat, so we consulted with our family doctor last week, when I went early on Friday, he suggested me to shave my head, because of such a long hair the heat will not control, also he said I want to maintain my hair very short for couple of years. Initially I am not accepted for this, but our doctor my hubby and my parent’s compulsion I decided to cut my hair or shave my head. My hubby preferred for headshave, So I am planning to trip for tirupathi or palani for my headshave, but I’m unable to travel this kind of situation so my hubby said pls shave your head at local saloon, and also suggested he will carry my hair to tirupathi or palani.

My hubby want to bring any barber for my headshave at my home, but nobody accept for coming to for tonsure, so finally yesterday early morning my hubby bring to near by local saloon. And I finish my headshave at the local saloon itself. And my hubby went to tirupathi after my headshave for put my hair. Also my hubby suggested me for shave my head after 2 months. Everybody got shocked her decision, and her friend is asking you are the role model for haircare, but now you are the bald lady in our entire office. 

                               

We can’t believe this sudden change. Swapna said yes what you people can said is correct, in my headshave I cried a lot, because I lose my long hair, also I will not grow my hair for 2 years. I beauty is gone. But everybody convince Swapna, don’t cry what ever happened you are the beauty queen of our office, because after your headshave also you are beautiful with your bald head. Then only she stopped her crying and she smiled. 

Then nobody not rags about her bald head. After 2 months also she shaven her head. She don’t want grow her hair boycut length also for the 2 years, then her family doctor told no problem you can grow your hair. Then only  she grow her hair, but she maintains her hair with boycut style. But she had sweet memories about her longhair everyday.

Bindhu is 25 years young girl

Bindhu is 25 years young girl from Indian village. Bindhu had 1 elder and younger brother. Her elder brother is in UK and so her parents went last week to there for 1 year. Bindhu her brother Naveen stay together in chennai. Anitha and Naveen is working in private concern. Her parents are looking alliance for Bindhu for past 2 years. But they are not getting a good match for her. 

                                             

They had a family astrologer is trying to match lot of horoscopes but he couldn't match anything. Her parents are worry about her daughter marriage. And 2 years back he found some fault (Dosham) in Bindhu's horoscope also informed about this to her parents. They asking about anything need to compensate (Pariharam) for this Dosham, astro said yes, Bindhu should shave her head at tirumala. Her parents got shocked and they won't accept, also they are asking another way to solve, but the asto said this is the only way otherwise no chance. But they are not accept this. Bindhu also heard this she also refuse to shave. 

Last month she got a good match everything went well, but in the last minute this alliance is dropped out. Everybody in her family sad about this, because this is the 4rd alliance got dropped  in the last minute for some reasons. After this Bindhu said I don't want to marry anyone so please don't force me again, please do marriage for Naveen. But her parents said no way Ani you are the elder so we need to complete your marriage then only we are think about his marriage. Naveen is love with his college mate. Bindhu know about this. But their parents not know. Naveen is just 1 year younger to Bindhu. So he is also eagerly waiting for Bindhu's marriage, then only he will speak about his love. 

By the time Naveen is fiancee's came up with some problem, for her parents looking for alliance, so she informed her love interest to her parents. Initially they are against this but after some long conversation they accept this. They met Naveen and spoke about this. Byt they put one condition that is need to complete the marriage with in a year otherwise they will select other match for their daughter due to some family problems.Naveen said after her sister marriage only she will marry her daughter. Yes, this is your decision, but we are accept this but with in a year you should marry otherwise don't blame us. Naveen don't have words he said ok. 

Finally Naveen parents also knows this, they also worry about this. Again they contact their family astrologer  again he said please compete her tonsure at tirumala, you will get a good alliance with in 6 months, otherwise no chance. They spoke to Anitha, and told about this, but she is not accept. But she loves his brother, so after the long hard decision she accept her tonsure, but this time Naveen is not accept. But she convince Naveen.They are planning to go to tirumala this weekend. She called her parents and said this, they are not happy but they said ok Anitha take care.

Anitha, Naveen and her fiancee Nirupama three of them starting to Tirumala. In the way Naveen said, Ani is this necessary to tonsure, because if you tonsure, if not getting any alliance in a year what will we do. She said correct, but we will try this also, because, if thinking later we could try this now. If it's workout we will happy otherwise leave this. They reach tirumala at 9AM in the morning and they got darshan in the evening. They went to their room and refresh for some time. After 2 hours they are going to Kalyanakatta for Bindhu's tonsure. Nirupama also not interest about Bindhu's tonsure.

 Once they reach the tonsure hall Naveen bought 1 ticket for Anitha. She is standing in the que. Ane she touches her long hair. There are lots of lady barbers sat and shave female head. She had tension, butterfly is flies in her stomach, because this is the first time she tonsure her head after 20 years. She is not remember her last headshave also. She is seen some of the girls and ladies are cutting their hair little bit, in her que she is the only young with long hair for headshave. This also her tension. She is watching the tonsure process. After 15 mins her turn. She free her hair and gave the hairband to Nirupama, and said it will not use for her other 1 year.


Then she sat in front of the lady barber Naveen gave the tonsure token to her. She is asking gundu / cut (tonsure or cut) Bindhu said gundu (Tonsure) then Bindhu gave her long hair to the women, she bend her head and pour water in her head. Bindhu feel sadly. She massage her long hair nicely. Her long hair is now completely wet. Then the barber put two knots, and barber insert a new half blade in the knife and bend her head again. 

Bindhu said Govinda, barber shave her middle part, Bindhu feels chillness in there head first time in her life. In her lap her hair is felt down. She look her hear and had a tears in her eyes. But she don't have any choice, by the time the barber shaves her left side and right side. She is now half bald, her front portion of the head is completely bald and back side the long hair then the barber shave backside of the hair also. In Bindhu's lap full of her hair. Once again baber completely shave her bald head.

                                          

Finally Bindhu stood up and came to Nirupama, and give her thuppata, Nirupama said it's cool Ani. Anitha said thanks, then she wash her bald head in the bucket of water. Some of the hair in her shoulder she clear with water. Naveen is watching this entire process. First time he look at Anitha with bald head. He took some pictures for bald head Anitha. 


Next day in her neighbours are shocked Bindhu's look, she said it's vow. She sends her bald look photos to her parents. After 6 months she got a alliance. Now she had had a boy cut look. So there parent fix there marriage next year for Anitha and Naveen in same day.

Journalist Bhavya's Tonsure - True Incident

Hi this story inspired from a true incident happened. One of the Mumbai based journalist experience about her head shave after her delivery and she is not shared the reason of the head shave. But in my mind I have a reason behind that's why I write the story. I hope everybody will like this. Only the character name is changed in this story. Its a real experience.

Bhavya is a journalist with long and lustrous hair. She married other co employee. It's a love marriage she settled in Delhi. She loves her long hair and she proud her hair is the asset and the main beauty. After marriage also she is working. Everything went fine.


After 1 year she delivered a baby boy. She and her hubby very happy for the child, also it's normal delivery. After 3 days she discharge from hospital. But her body is still weak. So she want to continue the bed rest for more than a week. Her hubby also took care. Because both of the parents are not in india. So her hubby took a week leave and he cares wife and the child. After 1 week she is coming normal, but the day her hubby's uncle passed away in london. They got the news from london both of them got worried about the sad news. But after 2 days they become normal. Then Bhavya started to discuss with his hubby for her vow to tirupathi. Because it's already they planned, if she delivered a baby boy with she will shave her head at tirupathi with in 1 month. if it's a baby girl her hubby will shave his head tirupathi. Because she likes boy, and her hubby likes girl baby. But her hubby said, "Renu that's correct, but now my uncle is passed away, so we shouldn't go to temple for this 1 year. So next year you can shave your head at tirupathi, if you want I will also join. Then Bhavya said ok, anyway we will not do anything for this situation, so my hair will stay for next 1 year, will shave both of them heads next year at tirumala." Her hubby also accepted this.

Next day morning her neighbor came to their house and he asking about baby's health and Bhavya's health. Her name is Lakshmi, she is also south indian. She is 30 years of age. After the some discussion she informed she is going to tirupathi by next 2 days that is coming saturday night. If Renu's family want to do any pooja in tirupathi she will do it behalf of their family. Bhavya said nothing aunty, actually I planned to shave my head at tirumala after my delivery but his uncle got passed away so this year I will not do anything like temple related, but I will give some money please put it in temple hundi, anyway next year we both will shave their heads at tirumala. Then lakshmi replied I have other idea Renu, if you want you can think about this, Renu questioned to lakshmi "What idea aunty", she replied, per your statement you will not going to any temples for the whole year that's correct, we are also following these kind of formalities, but you can shave your head and given to me I will put it in tirupathi when I reach. Renu surprised her idea, "Aunty you are correct, but where will I go and shave my head?", lakshmi replied, "Renu you can go to some parlor and shave your head and bring some hair or whole hair, and given to me any way my hubby and me also shave both their heads this time, so I will put it in the kalyanakatta. Renu and her hubby happy about Lakshmi aunty's idea. So both of them accepted, then Renu replied " Aunty I thought my hair will stay for next 1 year but god decided whatever happened I should shave my head so that only you told about your trip and your view of idea". Lakshmi said "Yes tirupathi is special place, if you prayed something you should to finish the vow". Then Renu said, aunty I will shave my head coming saturday morning, and I will given to you. She also accepted.

Satruday morning, Bhavya is ready for her tonsure, her hubby said, can I shave my head today, she said no need, this is only for me, next year if you want you can shave. Her hubby said ok. And they are calling lakshmi for sometime to take care of their child, they will be back after 1 hour. The baby is sleeping well, anyway he will wakeup after 2 hours, before that they will come. So lakshmi said ok for that. Then both of them started to parlor, and they reached at 11 am morning. It's a unisex saloon (male and female) In the receptionist said madam can you please wait for some time, because 3 of them is waiting before you. Renu said ok. And then the receptionst asking for the purpose of the visit, that is facial, haircut, massage, her hubby said headshave. She noted, and then she questioned, madam you want any haircut, Bhavya smiled and replied, headshave is for me only not for my husband. Receptionist said, sorry mam, then she informed to the beautician about this through intercom. After Bhavya 1 young girl and 2 male are waiting. After the 15 mins receptionist called Bhavya, mam you can go, then Bhavya and her hubby going inside the parlor, and the beautician said welcome mam, please take your seat, sir you can also sit this sofa. So Renu went and sat the haircutting chair, and her hubby sat behind her the sofa.


Beautician covered her body with big cloth, and Bhavya touch her hair to remove the clip, but the beautician said, no problem mam I will do it you can sit relaxly. Then renu sat normally. Then the beautician asked, mam want a headshave? Bhavya said yes, please, then the beautician comb her long hair, and said your hair is beautiful, why you want to shave, Bhavya said it's a vow, so please shave me and give some hair to me. She said ok. Then she sprayed water to wet her hair, by the time the girl and 1 boy came to the room, the girl is coming for facial, she had a mid back hair, and the guy is coming for haircut. Then the beautician take the scissor, and chopped her hair unto her neck and she is now bobcut, again she chop her hair front and back, the one standing next to her freaked out and asked her what the hell she was doing. Beautician replied to the guy, headshave. The guy shocked and he had no words, by the times beautician chopped all of Bhavya's hair, her hubby also watching all this process. She is now military crew cut, then the beautician pour some more water in her head and wet her short hair, and take the machine razor and put her backside of the hair and shaved cleanly, her bald plait is coming, she continues her shaving process, all the part right and left side and finally front side, and Bhavya is completely bald now, her beautiful hair is in floor. she look her face in the mirror, she won't believe, she is look like an monk with bald head. Then the beautician apply shaving cream in her head and again she shaved her head with knife cleanly. Other 2 mins her head is very shining. Beautician said, mam "your headshave is finish, you want anything", Bhavya replied, "ok that's fine", then she asking her hair, beautician called the other girl and take some hair from the floor and pack and given to Bhavya, she also did the same. Then they paid the about to reception, and everybody in the reception looking Bhavya surprisingly, because young girl comes with clean shaven head from the parlor, but Bhavya is not worry about that. Finally they came to house, lakshmi aunty is looking Bhavya and said, "Renu you are very beautiful with out the hair, this is inspired my headshave, so I don't worry about my headshave", Bhavya said "aunty don't worry hair will grow some time, this is the religious vow" and she gave the bag to lakshmi and said "this is my hair, please put it in tirumala behalf of me", she said, "no problem renu, this is my pleasure". my sister in law name is kavya and she is doing her intermediate 2nd year. She have thick and long hair with ends trimmed finely. she looks pretty good with big eyes and bright lookings. After exams a long vacation came about 6 months. As you all know that after intermediate a long vacation will come before going to engineering. So at that time all their family were planned to go to tirupati for that vacation. Her family belongs her mother, father and kavya and these three were planned and ready to go for.

 They started on 14 apr 2011 early morning by car to tirupati and meanwhile at that time her mother told her that she has a surprise and she will be soon revealed after going up on to the hill. They finally reached to top of the hill at around 6.30 in the evening and were so tired so they decided to do the remaining things on tomorrow. On early morning her mom woke all to do headshave at kalyanakatta where the tonsure process done and asked her husband (kavya’s father) to bring three tickets. Kavya surprisingly asked her mom about the reason for 3 tickets ! Finally her mom revealed the surprise that kavya is also getting her head to be tonsured. Kavya , a thick long hair girl was surprised by hearing this and she cried a lot saying NO. But of no use, her mother already decided to shave her hair off and told that if she got a good score in intermediate and got a good seat in engineering then she will shave kavya’s hair at kalyanakatta. 

Her mother convienced kavya that there is a good gap between inter and engineering so she can grow up her hair before going to college. So nothing is there in kavya’s hands and so she finally agreed for her tonsure. Meanwhile, her dad brought 3 tickets and they all went to tonsure hall. The place is croudy and many of men and women were shaving their heads. Seeing this all, Kavya got tensed and more excitement. Her dad went to male section and these two women remain in female tonsure section.

Kavyas mother see the tension in kavys’s face and so she decided to shave her head first so that by seeing the process, kavya will get some courage. The turn came. Kavya’s mother handled the ticket and blade to the barber and sat before him. Her hair is thick and shouldered length and was loosen and get wetted by the barber and divided to two halfs. The full hair is watered and the barber bent her head and started shaving. The hair where the touched part of razor gets fallen and a white patch appeared and it increases more and more. Half of her hair is tonsured and in a couple of minutes the full head is shaved and now kavya’s mother is completely bald ! Now finally, its the turn for kavya.

 She sat before the barber with her loose thick long hair and bent her head before him. He pour huge amount of water on her hair as its so long and massaged her hair for 2 minutes and make two knots on two ends and changed the blade in his razor. Asked kavya to bend her head so down and she done like that. He kept the razor on her head and started shaving to her back side. The thick hair slowly removing and gets fallen down on her back. After a minute he do the same process on front side and shaved the front area also. In 5 minutes kavya is totally bald with soft bald head. Barber didnot satisfy and he again pour some water on her head and repeated the tonsure process again on her bald tonsured head. Now kavya is bald and looking more beautiful in her new bald look. 

Finally, all their family were completely bals and now kavya gets ponytail length hair and tied her hair to a band a going college. I think you all like this story well.

My friend Shivya had a vow

My friend Shivya had a vow to shave her head in Tirumala. She told to give her company in her trip. One day she requested me to shave my head also along with her. I could answer her. At last she convinced me. This was my first head shave from my childhood. I wanted to get this new experience.

I and my friend Shivya started on 15/12/12 from Hyderabad. next day morning we reached Tirumala. We had arranged cottage accommodation for us in advance. So we went straight to the cottage. I had been looking forward to this experience for a long time and I wanted to get tonsured as soon as possible. So I explored the possibility of going to the Kalyanakatta right away and getting tonsured. Reluctantly, I had to postpone the idea till the next day because we were very tired.

I could hardly sleep through the night. I was excited at the thought of the straight razor playing on my head early next day! I was wide awake by 4 am. After brushing our teeth, my friend asked me to get ready. Then my friend without talking anything got ready. Then I wore a salwar kameez. We left for the Kalyanakatta by around 6 am.

                         

There was a big crowd in front of the Kalyanakatta entrance and I thought this was going to take awhile. But as soon as we got into the Q, we moved up front quite quickly. We went to next step there a man giving half blades to everyone who got the tokens. He asked me are for gundu as I am looking posh. I felt some shy and told yes, and then he gave me a half blade
After taking the token and blade for the tonsure, we entered the hall. There were a lot of barbers doing their stuff. I got into one line. There were around 5-6 people in front of me. That meant around 15-20 minutes wait. I was keenly observing the tonsuring of the people in front of me and my excitement mounted.

First my friend sat in front of him. I concentrated on my friend’s tonsure. With a smile she bent her head to the barber offering her wet bob cut hairs with some brown in it. He started from the front and the first cut brought a kind of joy in her face which is difficult to forget. Then my friend shaved their heads my friend was looking so beautiful. She simply laughed at me.

                                        

I was nervous because next was my turn. Then I sat in front of him and I covered my laps with towels that dress would not spoil. Like others, he wetted my waist length hair with a mug of water and massaged it vigorously for a minute and everything was very new to me. He tied my hair into two loose knots on both sides. My head now was totally wet with water and water droplets were falling on my shoulders, back, neck and on the towel below. I could see nothing but the ground. I was shivering with cold water. He put the new blade he had collected from me (issued at the counter) into his razor, bent my head fully down and made the first scrape at my nape. Oh! What a sensation! I could hear the scrape-scrape on the back of my head - top to bottom. Immediately, I could feel the coolness of the air on my scalp. I could feel wet tufts of my hair falling on my back and neck. In one minute, the back of my head was totally bald! The barber lifted my head slightly and adjusted it to get the correct angle so that he could start on the front. He started from the top of my head towards the front...scrape-scrape....Then he drew a patch from the crown to my forehead. Then he tilted my head to my left and shaved off the hair on my right. I could see Shivya who also bald smiling at my half tonsured head. I also smiled at her. He then started shaving my left side. He passed the blade all over once again making my head very smooth.

I got up caressing my bald head with both hands. I gave the barber Rs.10 extra for shaving me smooth. He was happy and offered me a mirror to see. I was anxious to see my face and when I saw it I was shocked to recognize myself. I was so different, a totally new bald look. Then I removed all the hair on my legs and touched my head for a while. We reached the guest house. I immediately ran in front of the mirror to see how I look. I had seen me in mirror my look was totally changed in GUNDU. But nothing can be done now, so I consoled myself. Shivya consoled me saying that I’ve given my hair to god and so there is nothing to feel ugly.

                             


Later during bath I rubbed my hands all over the rough and freshly shave scalp. It’s a very nice experience!! Later after drying the scalp I applied some sandal to keep my scalp cool. It really kept me cool from that rough shaving. Later in the day I applied coconut oil all over to make my scalp smooth. I started counting days for that day itself eager to wear a pony.
Next day we had a good darshan of the lord. I prayed the lord that because u has taken my beautiful, long and smooth hair u should take care of me in troubles of life.

It's My true Experience

I am 19 years old and got married 3 days back to this guy who works in UK. His mother is a south indian and he lost his father long back. They have lived in Kerala all their life. On my first day, was told to get ready in the morning. I dressed with all the ornaments and wore a new saree. 

                                                                              

I and my husband were supposed to perform some rituals before we could have our first night.  I had no idea what the rituals were and what the puja was like. 

We reach the river ghat. My MIL and several other ladies sit on the ghat. My husband sits in front of me. And other males in the family sit behind him. I feels a little nervous. the pandit comes and sits near me. I looks up and a 13 year old girl from the family is brought reluctantly to sit near me. I overhear someone in the crowd say “sudhiya 13 saal ki ho gayee kya? mundan aaj hi hoga?” … I realize why the other girl was so reluctant - she was to be clean shaved today and she would be bald. She was not sure why the ritual. The pandit started talking and said that Sudhiya is attaining age and her head has to be shaved clean and smooth on the ghat of this pious river. I was feeling strange as I had never seen any girl been shaved publicly. the little girl started crying and was held by several women. . The barber started sharpening his razor - ustara. 

Sudhiya’s mother instructed the barber “poora sir saaf mundana … pehle kya kainchi se katoge ya seedha ustara ghumaoge?” Hearing this the girl cried louder and her mother slapped her saying “agar tum aura chilai ek bar toh poora saal tumhara sar ghutwa ke hi rakhenge” … the water was poured on sudhiya’s head.. the girl was miserable and the barber held her head and said bas 5 minute lagega, utne mein tum ganji ho jaogi… “ and people giggled. the ustara made the first pass on girl’s head and a white patch appeared…. a big part of her center of head fell in front of her eyes. pass by pass all her hair fell down. 

The girl’s mother approached and touched her scalp and felt it and asked the barber “idhar ye chhoot gay hai thoda .. poora achche se chamkao aur saaf 2 char bar ustara phirao… sir taaja munda lagna chahiye aur yeh na ho hum 2 din mien dobara le ke aye inka sir mundane ko… chamkao”… the barber followed the instruction… “bibi ji ab ho gaya… mahina bar ek baal nahi dikhega sir pe…" the little girl was now completely bald and had cried her eyes out. Couple of women approached Sudhiya, took some water from river and poured on her bald her and then taking some kumkum put a swastika on her bald head. They asked her to touch her bald head and feel it. She started crying again. One of the woman said “Ab “kahe ro rahee ho .. mund gaya sar, … adat dal lo” other one said “sheesha dikhao aur sar pe hath firwao” … the girl saw herself and was sad.

                                   

I saw all this and was scared but was feeling strange… i did not know what was it…. I was shaken to see a girl’s head shave… 

What I did not know was this… 

The pandit now turned to me and said “”vidhi shuru karte hain. girija, tumhare pati ke lambi umar ke liye, tumhe mundan karwana hoga. Tumhare pati tumhari choti khud hi katenge aur fir tum use nadi main baha ke aaogi. uske baad, naai yeh ustara tumhare pati ko dega jo shikha chod ke tumhara sir pe pehla ustara ghumaenge. uske baad naai tumhara mundan karega. “ This meant I was to be cleanshaved. I had no idea. I belonge to a small city and my step family married me to this person because he lives in UK. I was shocked… I was shivering… what I just saw was going to happen to me. I had long knee-length hair…. I looked at my husband who was smiling… The process began…. my hair was cut, I gave it away in river… started crying and was scolded by mother in law …. I then returned. my husband took the ustara and shaved a part of my hair…. I was miserable.

                                      

 The nai (barber) came again and put water on my hair and started the shave….. one woman said “”rona band karo …. pati ke liye mundwa rahee ho” .. the pandit asked me “”bachpan mien mundan hua tha?” I did not say a word… “Arrey hua tha ki nahi? sir munda gaya tha tumhara?” … when mother in law poked me I said no … Pandit continued“ theek hai, koi bat nai… is poore saal har teerath pe iska sir munda dena sab theek rahega”… I shrunk more. In minutes, I was clean shaved. my mother in law felt her bald pate and told the naai… “aur thoda saaf karo aur ache se chamka ke saaf karo” … naai started again and I was now bald like a cueball. I was taken to river and my mother in law washed my bald head.

 Now I was made to sit and all the ladies approached and one by one felt my bald pate and put some oil on it. Finally my husband was called and was asked to put sindoor on my bald head. Now the mother in law said “”pandit ji naak bhi chhidi nahi hai inki” (her nose has not been pierced either) Pandit said "haan abhi chhidwa do aur nath pehnao" (yes, pierce it not and make her wear the family nosering)… the piecrer was called. my bald pate was held up by mother in law and a thick n

ose ring was given to the piercer. He asked in between “inka mundan abhi hua hai kya? “ mother in law said… haan abhi abhi hua hai” I screamed as my nose was pierced with this big nose ring. 

We came home. I was sent to my room. . I had covered my bald head with a pallu. I was sad and embarrased and shocked. My husband came in and asked me to remove my pallu and said he wanted to see my head. I said no. Then he removed the pallu and asked me if I had felt my bald head yet.

                       

 I started crying and asked him why this ritual. He said, it was his mother's mannat and his mother had agreed for him to marry me only on this condition. He said he was very excited to see my head getting shaved. My husband took me to the bathroom and in front on a life size mirror, asked me to look up. I was bald and had a nose ring on. He asked me, how are you feeling… and held my hand and made me rub my head with that…. 

I am very sad on losing my hair... I am leaving for UK in 3 -4 days with my husband and he said, that on the festivals, he might get an instruction from his mother to get my head shaved and he might do it himself. .... Other than all this he loves me but I am scared and sad on losing my hair...
